Am I a Successful Person??

Earning money is very important for each one of us as without money nothing is possible in today’s world. And why do we earn money? To satisfy our needs? To satisfy families needs? To lead somewhat luxurious life by buying some of the luxuries? But do we ever get satisfied by what we have or we just want more and more?
If we are able to buy a Honda City car, we want a Mercedes, if we are able to buy a Flat enough for our family; we want to buy a Bungalow, then a farm house and thus there is no end. And I am not saying to have dreams of achieving more is bad, of course everyone should have this dream but at what cost?? You are earning but can’t share time with family, you are earning but are always engaged in your work thoughts and what will your earning be of any good if you can’t be a part of family mentally?

Let’s understand this by an example of a movie-
There was movie released named Baar Baar Dekho, starring Siddharth Malhotra and Katrina Kaif. It was a flop movie but had a great message. Siddharth Malhotra sees his different futures in his dream. He and his girl friend Katrina got married and went to England as he wanted to pursue PhD from there even though Katrina wanted to stay in India. So they went there and while pursuing PhD, he wasn’t able to give time to his family, he had 2 children and he didn’t even know what they were into. As he was not able to give time to Katrina, she started liking someone else and here both decided to have divorce as Siddharth also committed a mistake by kissing someone else and in that dream he was a successful mathematician but was all alone by the age of 50. So can we define this as being a successful person?

We can conclude that nowadays having only money and power is considered as a definition of success and we all have forgotten the actual meaning of it. For being successful, there are many other factors playing more important part than money.

What will you do with all the money that you have earned if you don’t have the time to spend with your family as well as your own self? We need our body and mind to be perfectly fine for doing any work to earn money. But what if we are not able to spend that time which is required for our body and mind to function normally? How will we even be able to work if our body is not fit and mind is not normal?
So the first factor other than money which is important to be a successful person is Time. We all should have proper scheduling of time where we can spare time for our family, loved ones, friends, exercises, outings and the most important is to spare some alone time with your own self. Managing all these along with your work and earning money leads us to be a successful person.

The next important factor to be a successful person is Satisfaction in your work.
We all run towards what others are following rather than going towards the interest and passion that you have. Remember one thing, change your passion into profession as you will only be able to enjoy your work if and only if you will love doing it and have keen interest towards it. Else in some years you will get exhausted from that work which will affect not only you but also your family and thus you won’t be able to remain happy. Changing behaviour of a person, getting angry too frequently, keeping your mind tensed all the time- these all are the effects of doing work that you don’t like which makes you unhappy.
So always be a passion follower rather than being a money follower, as if you make the passion your profession you will definitely make money slowly and gradually. But if you are just working and earning from the thing you don’t like, you won’t be able to stay happy for a longer time and so will never be able to become a successful person.

And the last thing important for being a successful person is having Freedom- Freedom to do whatever you like to do. If you think of working somewhere else and following your passion part time after work then that won’t last long. Week days going to work starting from 8 AM, doing the same work again and again, trying to impress the superiors working extra time for early promotions and increments, reaching home at 8 PM exhausted by work, tired and ready to sleep won’t allow you to keep following your passion time being. And as your family advances, responsibilities increases and you even forget what your passion was and keep yourself into the race of earning money. So where is success here?? Is forgetting the thing that you like, a part of being successful?
What we do is try to follow what others are doing without even thinking about our interest towards that particular thing and these makes us a blind follower.

When we are talking about following passion which is not adopted by most of us as profession, it’s because we are always being surrounded by excuses that are created from someone around you or also from you like for example these doesn’t have that money that other professions have but that’s where we get wrong.

There are many who have followed their passion and became a successful person like Sandeep Maheshwari- Loved to do photography and now carries a world record in clicking maximum photos in a day. Abhishek Mishra- left his corporate job after being an engineer and a MBA degree holder, went to follow his dream towards sports and became first Indian to complete 161 km run in “Run the Rann”.

Yes of course money is equivalently important for anyone and everyone but it should be important according to the requirement. Cars require Petrol to drive but it should be in required amount only and so is the importance of money in anyone’s life.

We all have forgotten to be a successful person as we just keep following what the world is doing without thinking of what’s right or wrong for us. So first step towards achieving success should be to follow what your heart says and not what world says.
