Taapsee Pannu’s first Tamil movie revolves around the story of Swapna, a game developer who had a very dark and creepy year of 2018, where the movie starts with a girl being followed by someone and gets beheaded with body being burnt.

PLOT AND IT’S MESSAGE:-

First half of the movie shows the story of Swapna, who got raped one year ago. The movie is trying to show us the mental state of a woman who got raped in darkness and how the phobia of darkness takes her body control which neither allows her to live properly nor die peacefully. 

We all always try to create a big issue against rape cases but we never try to understand that creating all these issues actually is making that woman weaker which is clearly depicted in this movie where Swapna was sitting in a café and 2 men were starring at her and comparing her with someone in their mobile and laughing. After seeking into their mobile, Swapna came to know that her pictures of being raped had got viral in social media due to which she got panicked and tried to commit suicide.
In the era of social media, along with these protest comes the trolling, memes and a post on instagram or facebook just for the sake of increasing views and likes. And here we all sit and enjoy the posts and never think of that girl’s mental state and how all this is affecting her. In the name of support, we actually are creating more problems for her. So if we want to support these protests that take place then support her by trying to give justice and not by forwarding the posts and photos of her being raped.

Second half of the movie shows us about psychopath killer/s trying to kill Swapna who beheaded a girl in the starting of the movie.
We all have two lives. After the first one ends, we realize that now only one life is left to live.
The above quote which is mentioned in the movie states that we all realize about things that we did wrong when we enter into the last stage of our life where we want to change many things but we can’t. Till that we just take things for granted whether it is about going out for a late night party as shown in the movie or trusting strangers or taking any kind of situation very lightly. We are always being guide by our parents or friends or might have seen/heard different cases but still we don’t think or listen to anyone and just go on doing in the way we like until we face that situation on our own. 
Swapna didn’t listen to her parents instructing her for not going in that party but she didn’t listen to them and had to face bad results. And in the second half, when the news flashed about the psychopath killer going rogue in the area where they lived, Swapna’s maid didn’t paid attention to the news which she saw about the psychopath and so they had to face the attack without being prepared for it.
I am not trying to tell that no one should roam around late night alone or any such thing but always keep analyzing the situation that you are into. Always roam around being safe either by having continuous touch with someone around or roaming in groups or sending live locations on Google avoiding shortcuts and driving along the main road with safety equipments kept along with you always. Always do enjoy but with Precautions.   

In the movie, Swapna gets 3 lives to fight against the killer/s in the form of Déjà vu effect and so in the last chance she had good knowledge of how things are going to take place to which she decides to fight against that psychopath to save herself from death. 
Here what we need to learn from the movie is to be courageous to take any kind of step as just to have knowledge and not utilizing it is equivalent of being dumb. 
Swapna was not able to save herself in her first two chances and so even in her last chance if she didn’t do anything then she would have again died in her last chance also and her knowledge of that situation would have gone into waste. So always use the knowledge that you have to do something fruitful rather than just sitting and watching things which might ultimately damage us too. 

Also the movie tries to teach us about being brave by heart and to fight any kind of situation that is being brought in front of us rather than just giving up. Because if our mind is strong enough to face any kind of situation then there is no meme, troll or any person who can bring you in depression or make fun of your situation.
