Traffic Sense- An Attitude towards Responsibility

Starting with the Stats, according to World Health Organization, 1.23 million people worldwide every year die due to traffic accidents that are taking place. That means the issue of traffic sense is quite more serious than Covid-19 as well. But if we try to think this with a different perspective then we can understand that the overall traffic sense is directly dependent upon our attitude towards taking responsibility of our own self as well as others who are connected with us.

Let’s try to understand this in more detail by highlighting the attitudes in our regular life.

1. PATIENCE: We all might know that a person should have a good amount of Patience level for bringing any kind of solution. But we are losing our patience very easily. We have got that habit of reacting immediately without understanding the situation which will ultimately generate more problems rather than solving anything.

This is directly related to the traffic sense that is required to solve the traffic problems as whenever we are driving and if somebody comes in between we don’t have that level of patience to not react over that particular incident. Instead, we will immediately stop our vehicle in between, get out of our vehicle and start fighting with the other vehicle user who just broke the rule. This reaction that we gave will generate more problems for us as well as all the other vehicles that are travelling besides us creating traffic issues. If we are patient enough, we will try to avoid such an incident which will disturb many people’s mood along with ours.

2. “I will go first”- The habit of being first has been inherently taught during the childhood days which sometimes affect our attitude towards driving. I guess we all might have observed that whenever the signal is red, all the vehicles try to come first for which they start covering the left lane of the road as well. All the educated people or businessman are included in this as the only thing lacking in us is the sense of responsibility. In a hurry to go first and fast before the signal gets red, we forget that going ahead will create issues for the vehicles who want to turn left.

Only one question for everyone who try to hurry for crossing the signals, If you will stand on the signal for around 3-5 minutes more, are you going to incure a big loss?

If your answer is yes, then the next point is for you.

3. Planning: From small things like buying something for your home to running any kind of business, the basic requirement is planning. We need to plan everything properly for getting a proper outcome.

Same goes for the travelling time as well. Our managers might be having a regular complain that you are getting late to work due to which we try to drive rashly, break the signals and try to reach office on time but what we miss out is to properly plan out the calculation of the time that will be taken for travelling and the time to leave our home.

The skill of planning things properly is must in any individual as that is the base of executing anything in life. If we are not a good planner than we won’t be able to take proper decisions and thus keep making repetitive mistakes.

4. Show Off: This is the attitude which is responsible for most of the accidents taking place. Rash driving, overspeeding of vehicles, keeping earphones on with loud music is getting common due to show off. We don’t wear helmets while driving as it covers our face. We drive our car while talking over the phone thinking that its common and nothing’s going to happen.

But we don't understand that this show off that we do let's us take things for granted which ultimately hinders our acceptance towards taking things seriously.

5. Fear: Whenever we assume anything without having any experience, we either get over confident or develop a phobia. There are many learners who already have a fear in there mind that everyone is driving very roughly so we need to be extra careful. This type of thinking sometimes create phobia which doesn't allow us to drive properly and so whenever any vehicle comes near by, we get scared which ultimately makes us loose control over the vehicle.

So it's always recommended not to assume things. Only Believe in the things that you are able to see, hear and feel or else your own assumptions will bring a new problem in your life.

These all are the attitudes where we need to bring change in our own self not only while driving but also in our personal as well as professional life. And these change will ultimately help us in developing the kost important skill that is required which is observations.

Be it during driving or be it any incident in your life, observations are the key for unlocking yourself as a responsible person.

LIVE BY OBSERVING AND LEARN BY UNDERSTANDING.
