The 2 most Dreadful C's- Comparison and Competition

“He got 92%, why can’t you get that??”
“How dumb are you that you can’t even compete with your friend??”
“He got his girlfriend so easily why am I not getting any??”

We all see these kind of comparisons done regularly in front of us by our parents, relatives or amongst our friends. Comparison results in competition which creates many kind of unbalances in anyone’s life like trust issues, depression, frustration, ego, etc.

We are definitely into a competitive world but finally it is our choice to be a part of that competition or to lead a normal life.

Let’s talk with an example-
  • You are going on a highway in Maruti Alto with your wife and children, enjoying every moment with your family and suddenly a BMW car cuts down your way overtaking you. Seeing this, your mind also starts creating desires to overtake that car and so you start driving at a high speed. Driving at high speed needs maximum concentration on road and traffic and so you won’t be able to enjoy with your family. This makes you a part of the competition now with that another car.

The lessons needed to be learnt from this example are
  • BMW is a high speed car but Maruti Alto isn’t. You knew that you can never overcome the speed of BMW yet you started comparing and entered into the competition to go ahead of him. Similarly we sometimes in pressure or not accepting the real scenario, we get into a track which is not actually for us yet we keep on trying it with full energy to succeed it but won’t be able to succeed in it as that’s not we are made for.
  • BMW is a very low efficient car compared to Maruti Alto so actually in a way you are better than him is some things but still as we have a competitive ideology, we are always not satisfied with what we are actually good at and want us to be ahead from others in everything.
  • As you entered into the competition of getting ahead, you were not able to focus on your family who actually needed you to enjoy during the journey. So we can say that competition makes us selfish where we never think of our surroundings and just think on how to win before others and we can never focus on our loved ones who actually need us.

Watching and getting into the flow of the world, we all have set our mind to compare and compete at every little thing and always keeping ourselves above or below others. Keeping our selves below others creates frustration, depression and also inferiority complex while keeping ourselves above others creates success ego.

When marks of a child are compared with his class mates, if he has got less marks he will start considering himself as a failure which created depression.
All of us have got so much indulged into competition that without seeing the capability of the child we get him into the race to bring maximum marks without knowing the child’s real capability. The number of suicides has increased so much and the reason is frustration and depression created due to these competitions which are the result of comparisons.

Never think of what world would think but think what you would  like to become and always follow that rather than following the world blindly because no person alive is a failure. Each and every person is better than others in one or the other thing.

Comparison creates inferiority complex when someone is not able to achieve which is achieved by others and so everybody makes a fun of his intellect which ultimately affects the growth of his mind as he gets scared in performing anything and doesn’t open up his problems or doubts.

Also when someone tops in a particular task or event, this may create a success ego which will make him fly high considering others foolish and below him and would never think of others making him a selfish personality.

This world is of competition but without understanding the real meaning of competition we are trying to win everythinand everyone. We are competiting with others to get ahead of them but the actually meaning so what different which is explained in the next line.

If you really want to compare, compare your own self with the past one and you should feel that you are a better personality than the past and have learnt many new things and keep yourself in a competition of your own self so that you will never give up on yourself and keep improving yourself for achieving the goals that you have desired for.

  1. Comparison is not the right solution , everyone is different in there own field. Memories and moment are more important than that luxurious car because looking back to your/our life is all you/we have are the memories you/we made.
