Lets Laugh together
This
article is mainly focused on the topic of “learn to make fun and laugh at
yourself”
6th May is celebrated as the World Laughter Day which was started by Dr. Madan Kataria who was also
the founder of Worldwide Laughter Yoga Movement.
We all try to keep ourselves
physically fit by doing exercises in gym/home or some kind of sports but never
pay attention on the mental exercises that are also important for us to be free
from stress which includes laughter and meditation.
- Meditation is required for increasing our concentration and sharpening our focus while Laughter is important for decreasing our frustration and to keep a pleasant state of mind.
The World Laughter Day is not celebrated just to perform laughing exercises/yoga on that particular
day but it is a remainder to everyone that no-one should ever forget laughing
even if their life is busiest & cruellest.
Laughing exercises include many
things like different laughing yoga, fun with friends, spending quality
time/going on vacation with family/friends to keep a constant smile on our face.
Now if a question is raised,” Do
all of you want to be just happy forgetting about your stress and problems?
Everyone will say “yes. But is it practically possible?”
Yes. It is possible by just
learning one thing-
LAUGHING AT YOUR OWN SELF
It is common to make fun and mock
others and have a laugh but if we start laughing at our own self, at our own
weaknesses/failures without bringing our ego in between, thereafter we can get
release from any kind of stress. Let’s take an example
- We are standing with our friends and suddenly everyone starts making fun of something odd that we spoke. We can’t argue back and so we also start laughing with them. But deep inside our heart we are not happy at all and keep stressing our mind to come up with a joke to throw at others. So can we call this laughter as getting free from stress?
- A boy had been suffering from Polio & was not able to stand properly. His friends around him always showed sympathy towards him. But he was somewhat different from rest. He always use to make fun of his own disorder and always tried to create a pleasant atmosphere around him by creating jokes. He never thought of his disorder in a negative way but always motivated himself and people around him by saying that,
“Life will always test you by
giving hard time. It just depends on how you try to handle it.”
- Dr. Hansraj Hathi (character from Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma) who died last year was so fat in his real life & in his starting days people around him used to mock a lot about his fat body. But he never took it negatively & instead he got selected as well as gained success in TMKOC for his fat body & a good sense of humor.
The basic thing to laugh at your
own self depends upon how you can express yourself in public. The greatest plague
that is being spread among the minds of people is “What will others think?” We
worry about our image and ego so much that we are never able to express
ourselves.
Did we even care for all this in
our childhood? We all love our childhood and want it back. Then why are we
killing the child that is still inside us? Why can’t we still express ourselves
as we use to do in our childhood? Is childhood necessary for being Happy or the
child which is in our heart?
So to remain happy and to always
keep laughing, never ever get frustrated for the jokes cracked upon us. Instead
take it as a fun, make 2 more jokes on yourself and make your own fun. Make
everyone feel the change inside you and never worry about how the outside world
will react. Always be happy and keep laughing as
Laughing is the best mental exercise.
