The Invisible Addictions
No. These are the addictions which shortens our life period.
But what about the addictions which don’t allow us to live happily and also
make us vulnerable towards it.
Yes. I am talking of addiction towards social media, addiction of
getting attracted or any such thing.
When a desire turns into a habit which becomes your priority leads to addiction.
Irrespective of age, each and every living person is addicted to one thing or another. Sometimes this addiction is visible and sometimes we are
unaware of it.
And The main reason for all this kind of addictions is desire. To desire something is not at all bad unless it goes out of limit. We all require
desires to fulfil our dreams but when a limit is crossed than it may result
into something not fruitful.
Let’s take up an example to understand this more clearly.
- Smartphone is capable to do any required work within seconds, can connect to anyone across the whole world in a blink of an eye, gives detailed information regarding anything. In a way it’s quite handy for a person but how many of us use it correctly? How many youngsters take the total advantage of this technology? It’s just used for Social Media in major cases. Is social media bad? No nothing's bad unless it has a limit. Social Media helps to connect through the world so we can’t say that its bad but the amount of usage done is wrong. We all get so indulged into it that we don't even know what’s going on in our surroundings. We don’t care to connect to the person sitting beside us who really needs our company. Because of this we don’t want to leave our phone even for 5 minutes.
- Let us say that you are studying in college. Before one month of your examination you try to study but are not able to concentrate as you know you have much time to complete it. So you just get away from your book and start scrolling down your Facebook or Instagram feed. Now let’s jump on to the day before exams. However bored you may be or whatever circumstances you may face still you will concentrate only on your exam. Why is that? It’s because at that time you are more desired for your goal of examination rather than social media.
- Discussing about addiction towards attraction. Nowadays people are keen towards relationship as they misunderstand attraction as love. Both have different meaning which most of us interpret incorrectly. Attraction towards someone is in most cases due to constant hanging out or chatting with each other but we think of it as love and get into a relationship and then it seldom works out. Now again we go in search of someone else in the same way. And there comes a time when we can’t live without being with someone. We always want someone to be with us or else we start feeling lonely which results in depression and can’t be happy. Isn’t this a kind of addiction too?
Think guys think.
Our mind never stops working. It constantly requires something to think or concentrate on. So if we change our interest and get our mind into something that is more desirable for us, it can definitely help us in getting rid of any kind of addiction. Just required is patience and control our own selves.
- We all like challenging our friends or any particular person. But for getting rid of any kind of addictions, challenge yourself. Challenge yourself to create a greater desire in front of this desire. Like if you are having social media addiction and are not able to study or focus on your daily activities because of that then challenge yourself to complete your work within some period of time and then you can use your mobile for sometime after completing your challenged work only. Gradually increase your time period for working and decrease your use of social media and slowly and gradually you will be able to get rid of your addiction.
There are many different types of addictions which I have not discussed here like addiction of food, sex, video games, porn, religions, etc. But each and every addiction is based on only one thing i.e DESIRES. And if we can control it then there is nothing in this world which can get you addicted.
